.42 caliber, 41 1/2" octagon barrel with an oxidized bore. This rifle is unsigned and has an English lock marked "NOCK/WARRANTED" with very nice light engraving. While this rifle is unsigned it exhibits the classic Lehigh County style of the period. The gun is quite plain in design with no carving, no tailpipe and of course the sliding wooden patchbox. The lock is a light grey in color and has a very smooth appearance with clear marks and engraving and the frizzen, is period resurfaced, The stock has a great looking patina and a reddish hue with a good deal of original finish. The brass furniture is all the same pleasant p0atina and there is nothing replaced on the gun. The sliding maple patchbox appears to be original in all respects and the ramrod is a period rod showing patina very similar to the barrel and an iron worm tip. This rifle has an excellent provenance being parts of the following collections. Hal DuPont, Jack Malloy, Tom Lewis, Tom Seymour, Joseph A. Murphy.
